Trader Joe's Vintage Ale 2010 by Unibroue

Trader Joe's Vintage Ale 2010. Belgian Strong Ale. Unibroue. Chambly, Canada.

Fall 2010.

My review on RateBeer:

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
AHTOH (10) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 26, 2010
750 ml bottle poured into Duvel tulip. Coffee color. Opaque when held to light, except around the edges. Thick light tan head with good retention duration. Some Belgian lace. Expected a little more lace for the style and brewery. Big sweet caramel malt aroma. Some sour/lactic/vinous character on the nose. Slight chocolate and even more subtle dark fruit aromas. Caramelized raisins on nose. Chocolate malts mid palate. Slightly sour on front and back palate – more sour than expected for the style and it being a spiced holiday ale. Mouth feel quite effervescent; almost like drinking a Black Velvet. Finish lasts minimal amount of time. Overall, enjoyed other dark Belgian-style Unibroue beers more, however, at $4.99 for a 750 mL this is a great bargain.
