La Chouffe by Brasserie d’Achouffe

La Chouffe (33 cL). Belgian golden strong ale. Brasserie d’Achouffe (Moortgat). Achouffe, Belgium.

Fall 2010.

My review on RateBeer:

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20

33 cL bottle. Poured into La Chouffe tulip. Pours deep orange tone of gold. Head has long retention duration. Decent Belgian lace. Lots of tiny sediment pieces floating around the bottom of the glass. Robust fruity and spicy aromas. Slight honey and citrus scents. Subtle clove, and perhaps a hint of cinnamon, on nose. Belgian yeast, esters on front of palate. Spices and subtle hops mid palate. Hint of buttery flavor on back of palate. Crisp throughout palate, yet semi-dry finish. Medium body. Feel like I remember La Chouffe tasting even better from a 750 mL as well as on tap. Would like to re-rate based on a 750 mL bottle.
