Draft Bear by Mikkeller

Draft Bear. Mikkeller (Brewed at De Proefbrouwerij). Imperial Pils/Strong Pale Lager/India Pale Lager (IPL). Copenhagen, Denmark.

Fall 2010.

My review on RateBeer:

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
AHTOH (18) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 18, 2010
Corked 750 mL bottle. Poured into Duvel tulip. Pours deep orange hue of gold. Quite cloudy. Off white head has relatively short duration though leaves entire top of ale covered in some minimal foam with comparatively large bubbles in the remaining amount of head. Inexistent Belgian lace. Carbonation appears minimal and rises slowly to the top in small quantities. Robust nose. Citrusy and floral hop aromas intertwine with honeydew and cantaloupe scents. Some green apple on nose. Aroma seems like perfumey pine. Quite amazing and complex aroma. After some swirls, subtle earthy (eg, grassy) and resinous hop scents on nose. Mild honey like sweetness from the malts on front of palate. Also, somewhat contradictorily, subtle citrus-like tartness on front palate. Floral hops mid palate. Grassy hops on back of palate. Pleasant (ie, instead of overpowering) bitterness on finish. While hops are most prominent taste, a certain degree of balance provided by the malts help restrain the beer away from becoming overly hoppy. Medium bodied. Crisp. Quite quaffable for the strength. Semi-dry finish.
